June – Club Visit to the AAIB
For once it didn't matter what the weather was like for our afternoon visit to the Aircraft Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) at Farnborough, as we were travelling by car (typically it was beautiful summers afternoon).
15 club members met up at the AAIB where we were given coffee on arrival followed by a presentation on the structure of the AAIB and all aspects of the work that they undertake.
After the presentation we were shown around some of the hangars, which housed varying remains of aircraft which had been involved in accidents. Even though it was very sobering it was also very informative and made one think about the safety aspects and human factors in aviation.
Many thanks to the AAIB for their time in giving us an insight into their work.
