Club visit to Farnborough
Three visits were arranged on the following days: Thursday 6th November, Wednesday 12th November and Thursday 27th November.
Unfortunately we were not able to fly into Farnborough as slots are strictly limited. Each group was restricted to 6 people.
The day we arrived at Farnborough was a typical autumn day, low cloud, drizzle and bad visibility, so there was not much aerial activity but that enabled the controllers to spend more time talking to us. We were given a very comprehensive description of the RADAR screens and the untypical small amount of activity that was taking place. We then took the lift up to the tower where we admired the view of the runway and looked at the parked business jets, we also had a view of the Vulcan that was parked there.
All subsequent visits had an equally informative time and some club members flew to Blackbushe and then took a taxi to Farnborough to make more of a day of it.
Our thanks go to Farnborough ATC for their hospitality.
