July Midweek Fly-out to Newquay
I don't know what has happened this year with the weather because as we meet for the 4th fly-out of the summer, the TAFS and METARS were showing some fog at Newquay which was due to clear and amazingly the weather behaved (yet again) and went as planned and cleared.
6 club Warriors, the Dakota, plus 3 of Steve Pikes' Eurostar fleet and 5 privately owned aircraft joined us for the flight to Newquay, 34 of us in total.
We arrived at Newquay in waves and most of the aircraft uplifted fuel. The handling agent at Newquay, Weston Aviation, was good enough not to charge us the fuel handing fee.
I had arranged for a series of mini-buses to transport us into Padstow where we had a good pub lunch in the Old Custom House. After lunch we meandered around Padstow and strolled along the beach, some of the more energetic of the parties played frisbee on the beach.
Everyone had a good flight back to Wycombe for a BBQ at the flying club.
It was a long day out averaging 2 hours flying each way but certainly well worthwhile.
