RAF Bentley Priory (Feb 2008)

RAF Bentley Priory is part of The Battle of Britain Heritage Trail which we had made a start on the year before with our visit to RAF Uxbridge. At the time of our visit the future of the Priory was uncertain as the Ministry of Defence had made a decision to close the RAF base on which it sits and to re-develop the site.

This venue proved to be very popular so two groups were arranged, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

We were met by Cindy McCabe who was our host for both visits. She gave us a very interesting and informative tour of the Priory finishing up in Sir Hugh Dowding's office.

Members of the morning group met with members of the afternoon group at a local pub for lunch.
